Efforts to Overturn South Carolina’s Anti-Spoofing Provision Continue

The Echols Firm, LLC is currently representing Plaintiff United Resource Systems, Inc. (‘URS’) in its efforts to deem unconstitutional and permanently prevent enforcement of the Anti-Spoofing Statute (S.C. Code Ann. § 37-21-50 (2018)) contained in South Carolina’s Telephone Privacy Protection Act. In his August 3, 2021 Order, Judge Joseph F. Anderson, Jr. denied the State’s motion to dismiss URS’s action for lack of subject matter jurisdiction. URS is currently defending a Class Action case which alleges it violated the anti-spoofing statute and this ruling is a step in the right direction to a favorable final outcome.
